SBATC Apprentice of the Year Awards 2016 - Nominations Deadline Extended

The Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Council has extended the deadline for the submission of nominations for the 2016 SBATC Apprentice of the Year Awards until Friday 30 September 2016

The decision to extend the closing date for applications was made following confirmation that the SBATC Apprentice of the Year Awards Ceremony will take place at the Scottish Parliament at lunchtime on Friday 18 November 2016.

All SBATC indentured apprentices who completed part of their time-served element during 2016 are eligible for nomination in one of the four following categories:

The James Birnie Award for Craft Excellence: Apprentice of the Year now in its seventeenth year, the prestigious James Birnie Apprentice of the Year Award recognises the talents of Scotland’s traditional craft apprentices undertaking any of the traditional four year SVQ level 3 programmes.

Adult Apprentice of the Year – this longstanding award acknowledges experienced apprentices undertaking an SVQ level 3 traditional craft apprenticeship whilst registered on the two year adult programme.

Civil Engineering Apprentice of the Year – celebrating the growing contribution made by civil engineering apprentices, this award focuses on candidates undertaking apprenticeships in general construction operations, highways maintenance, roadbuilding, plant operations, plant maintenance and civil engineering technicians.

Construction Specialist Apprentice of the Year – this recently introduced award aims to distinguish candidates working towards an SVQ level 2 ‘specialist skill’ apprenticeship in areas such as scaffolding, glazing, sealant application, ames taping, roof sheeting and cladding, ceiling fixing and demolition.
